We have worked and discussed using Predicting and Inferring while reading. We are to use story details and our personal experiences to predict what will happen next or infer why something happened. We have worked on identifying the story elements. We now know plot structure. We have asked ourselves about characters' feelings, events that cause something to change and why, how the setting is important to the story, where the climax of a story is, the problem in the story and how it is resolved.
We have also used a Thinksheet to help us identify the Main Idea of a story and the important events that support that main idea. We now can use these to help us write a summary instead of a retelling. What is the difference between a retelling and a summary? Ask me! I now know!
